Why does the adhesive have a quality hallmark?

Many PVC pipe bonds have to be suitable for drinking water applications, for example, or certain fertilisers. This is why SABA has applied for – and obtained - KIWA, KIWA-ATA, KOMO and/or CE quality hallmarks! See the packaging or product information sheets for the exact details.

Can I also work at lower temperatures?

Yes, provided the temperature is no lower than 5 °C. Below that level, there is too much condensation on the adhesive film, which becomes ‘locked in’ as a result. When the temperature is too low, there is a risk that the bond may appear to be in order, but that its true strength will only be revealed when the installation is subject to pressure.

Why is it so important to use a SABA Cleaner?

The best and safest way of creating a PVC pipe connection is to work in the correct manner. The pipes have to be clean and free of oil and grease. In addition, SABA PVC & ABS Cleaner treats the PVC surface so well that the adhesive can do its job to perfection.

Can I still use adhesive that has been stored at too cold a temperature?

We test adhesives that have been frozen according to the freeze-thaw stability NEN DIN EN 1239 testing method. This involves storing adhesives for many hours below 0°C, and then allowing them to return to room temperature. The quality and processing characteristics are then tested. Our adhesives pass these tests without any difficulty. Please see the product data sheets for the exact data about processing temperatures, storage temperatures and temperature resistancy per product.

Do I have to wear protective gear when working with PVC adhesives?

It makes sense to wear appropriate protection. You are working with solvents, which can be irritating or even harmful to your health. You should therefore refer to the instructions on the safety data sheet.

When can I apply pressure on bonded PVC pipes?

Based on our many years’ experience and continuous consultations with pipe manufacturers, a table has been drawn up which you will find on the application sheet.
